The MongolZ secured a playoff spot at IEM Beijing 2026 by beating HEROIC 2-0 in the playoff decider. They had beaten Legacy on the opening day.
On Inferno, The MongolZ won 13-7, built on a dominant CT side. Nuke, HEROIC's pick, was tougher: The MongolZ led 10-7 and 12-10 but could not close it out. A quad-kill from Brollan summed up HEROIC's fightback, while poor spacing from The MongolZ also let the map head to overtime.
In overtime, new signing nin9 stood out with a smart rotation and a sharp 1v2, averaging a 1.86 rating over the 12 overtime rounds. Techno then added another 1v2 that ended HEROIC's resistance, and The MongolZ took the map 19-17.
"It feels amazing to be on stage in China, our home region," Techno said after the game. It is The MongolZ's first Big Event playoff since BLAST Rotterdam, after four consecutive ninth-place finishes at Big Events, and the team's form has risen since signing nin9.
HEROIC drop to the lower bracket, where they face Falcons in an elimination match.
