TYLOO's withdrawal from HyperX Retake S13 has complicated the Chinese team's push for a place at the Singapore Major. After forfeiting their quarter-final, their chances of receiving an invitation fell sharply. The reason was a scheduling clash with IEM Beijing.
Coach WeiJie "zhokiNg" Zhong said the team had prepared for both scenarios. Before the Retake event TYLOO played at PGL Masters Bucharest, where their points were already sufficient after beating 9z. By then they were registered for Retake and could not pull out, and nobody had expected Dongkai "Jee" Ji to come down with chickenpox.
According to zhokiNg, Jee has almost fully recovered and is working with the hospital on a certificate confirming he is no longer contagious, which is required for him to play at IEM Beijing. Whether he could play the opening match depended on the result expected that same day. The event schedule lists MOUZ as TYLOO's opponent.
zhokiNg believes the problem is not only the schedule. He said the teams below TYLOO played regional points-farming events, while TYLOO competed at S-tier events. He also admitted that the gap to the top teams and to The MongolZ is still large.
He also discussed the 2-1 win over 9z, calling it an encouraging sign, especially since TYLOO had lost to them three times before and won without a full roster. On the secondary in-game leader role, he named JamYoung and Jee as candidates and said Jee's position suits the task better, although there is still room for improvement.
