GamerLegion enjoyed a positive debut with Aleksandr "shalfey" Marenov leading the team. The roster finished second to HOTU at RLG Tesla Cup 2026, beating Envy (twice) and FaZe at the LAN event in Serbia.
The run in Belgrade moved GamerLegion up 14 places to 33rd in the global VRS rankings, softening the disappointment of missing out on the Singapore Major.
Speaking to HLTV after the final, Adrian "imd" Pieper said there are no plans for Snax to be GamerLegion's IGL next season. According to him, the team is playing with shalfey until the end of the season, and at the end of the trial period they will decide whether to continue together.
imd explained that shalfey is a friend of FL4MUS, which is how the name came up. The Russian was calling the game at the end of his time at forZe and later at 9 Pandas, so the role is nothing new for him. The coach said language is not a major problem, though there are miscommunications in-game, and the team has packed everything into three days of practice while connecting it with shalfey's vision.
For next year, the goal is to attend all the Majors and every tier-one event possible. Until then, the team will prepare to start strongly in January.
