BLAST Open 2027 S3 to be held in the USA with updated format

BLAST has announced its Open Season 3 2027 event, set for September 3-12 in the United States. It replaces the second season of BLAST Bounty and introduces a new format with a Swiss stage.

BLAST has announced that its Open Season 3 2027 tournament will take place from September 3-12 in the United States. The event takes the calendar slot that was previously announced as the second season of BLAST Bounty.

Earlier Open events featured 16 teams split into two groups, with six teams advancing to the playoffs. The new format introduces a Play-In Stage, in which 16 teams will play on LAN in the USA in a Swiss bracket over five days.

The eight teams that advance from the Swiss bracket will then compete in a playoff bracket held in an arena setting.

Of the 16 participants, 11 will receive direct invites via the VRS. The remaining five spots will be decided through qualifiers across the four regions, with North America, as the host region, receiving an additional qualifying place.
